Who Are We?

The all volunteer Dreamland Villa Sheriff's Posse was established by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office in order to supplement their efforts in protection of this community from criminal elements. This helps ensure our citizens' welfare and lifestyle, aiding in emergency situations and participating in special enforcement and public relations details as directed by the Sheriff.

Some of the ways we accomplish this include:

  • High visibility patrol in marked Sheriff's Office vehicles of residential areas and neighboring businesses.

  • Relaying information to the Sheriff's office for special enforcement situations and to view crimes in progress.

  • By making crime prevention information available, at no cost, to our area's citizens and businesses.

Volunteers Needed!

Non-compensated Posse positions are composed of people from all walks of life who want to perform law enforcement work as a way to give back to their community. Applicants must complete a written application to start the process.

Posse Members: There is always a great need for uniformed patrol members. No experience is required and training is provided. Posse members commit to only 4 hours a week, though most put in more. Click here for more information.

Qualified Armed Posse Members: Once a Posse member has completed the basics in training, they can choose to go further and become Qualified Armed Posse members or QAP. QAP members must meet the same firearms standards as Deputy Sheriffs. However, it is important to state that QAPs do not have any law enforcement powers unless specifically and directly designated by a Deputy Sheriff for a very specific purpose.

Community Outreach

By Ron Tancrede

You're Invited!

Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone has implemented an initiative called One1MCSO for the Sheriff’s Office. A major focus of this initiative is community outreach, so much so, that he has created a Community Outreach Division. One part of this is implementing community outreach courses such as Fraud & ID Theft Prevention.

To that end the Dreamland Villa Sheriff’s Posse is hosting a class at 1:00 PM on November 8, 2017 at Farnsworth Hall at 6159 E. University Dr. in Mesa.

The course will be taught by a deputy from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office who will answer questions and provide material to help protect yourself against fraud schemes and ID theft. All residents of Dreamland Villa and the surrounding 55+ neighborhoods are invited and encouraged to attend. Bring your friends. We don’t know when or if this important course will be offered in this area again.
