Who Are We?
The ‘all volunteer’ Dreamland Villa Posse was
organized in response to the dismantling of the
Sheriff’s Posse by Sheriff Paul Penzone. While the
Sheriff’s Posse is still in effect as a shadow of
its former self, the demands made on the mostly
senior citizen VOLUNTEERS was ridiculous. The
Dreamland Villa Posse was formed by those of us who
opted not to jump through those hoops while still
desiring to protect our citizens of Dreamland Villa
by being a visible presence in the community.
We will continue to patrol the streets in duly
marked cars, watch for people who may be up to no
good and report same to the Sheriff’s Dispatch
Center via telephone. Let me be clear, we are NOT
law enforcement. We do not carry guns. We cannot
enforce vehicle laws, nor can we detain or arrest
law breakers. We have no standing with the law
enforcement community. Our mission is to be the eyes
and ears of law enforcement.
Some of the ways we accomplish
this include:
- High visibility patrols in marked
security cars throughout the residential areas
within Dreamland Villa.
- Relaying information to the Sheriff’s
Office for enforcement situations, by being good
witnesses to any crimes we observe.
- By making crime prevention information
available at no cost to our area’s citizens.
- By continuing to perform the duties of our
very popular House Check Program.
We hope in the near future to have direct
communications with local ambulances and SRP Fire
and Rescue Departments in order to respond to calls
in Dreamland Villa, and to render aid as needed and
directed. All of our members will be certified in
CPR and First Aid.

Volunteers Needed!
Non-compensated Posse positions are filled
by people from all walks of life who are willing to
help keep our community a safe place to live, and
want to give back to the community.
Posse Members: In order to complete our
mission there is always a great need for uniformed
patrol members. No previous experience is required,
and training will be provided. Posse members commit
to only 4 hours a week, though most put in more.
Whether you’re a man or woman, snowbird, or a year
round resident, please consider joining the
Dreamland Villa Posse.
Fill out the application and then meet with the
Executive Staff to see if this type of volunteering
would interest you. After your security and driving
checks come back, you will go through a short
training period, and then as many “ride-a-longs” as
it takes for you to feel comfortable to go out on
your own. It is not a physically taxing job, but you
should be comfortable to walk short distances and
get in and out of a car. We do not put ourselves in
any confrontational or dangerous positions. Our job
is to observe and report. Right now we are a small
but dedicated group, and despite taking our job
seriously, we also try to find time to have fun.
This is a new direction for all of us. We will be
drawing from our experience in the Sheriff’s Posse
with regard to training, but will not be a
paramilitary organization.
Our goal is to feel good about safeguarding
Dreamland Villa, but we also want to enjoy
retirement! If you feel that you can be a “team
player” and think you’d like to find out more,
please talk to one of us, or email any questions or
concerns to the address below. We’re looking forward
to talking with you!
